What we can do!

As we can see now we have so many questions regarding the Sustainability and how we can save our industry and planet! There is so much of existing textile so, we must look into ways how we can reuse and recycle the existing ones and how can the fashion industries try for alternatives and solutions to migrate the problems.

The small things can bring a big change so by taking responsibility and by following few ways we can do it.

By donating and re selling the items you don't want. Their are also few sites like Savers or Schools where they try to reuse, recycle or up-cycle. You can also donate you old garments to the ones who really need them or to the charity houses.

By swapping clothes with your friends and cousins and also try shopping second hand from sites. It's simply giving your clothes a new home and better than throwing them out. Try to extend the life of your clothing. Also try rental clothes, their are different organizations involved in this.

Try investing into quality than quantity! Try to buy less. If we look into our garments some are poor in quality, and some turn to rags and fill up the landfills. So, now while buying we must check into the sustainable brands like Doodlage, Upasana, Ka-Sha, 11:11, Pero, Eka and many more who are trying to bring sustainability in different ways like bringing back the handmade Indian crafts, recreating old clothes like sarees and denims, Sustainable Brands are also trying to follow zero wastage of materials and textiles, using natural fibres, some brand also uses discarded wastes for their garments. These Brands also try to take care of the workers needs, consumption, education and also some work for women empowerment. So, some way or the other all these sustainable brands are working on to bring a better future and we can contribute by buying less in quantity but buying these good quality and sustainable clothes!

Look for garments with certification label controlling chemical content such as OEKO-TEX®, GOTS, or BLUESIGN®.

Alternatives which people in the industry can use to help the environment:

Using or producing fibers with low water consumption such as linen, recycled fibers,etc. can help in lowering the water consumption.

Washing clothes at lower temperature and only when it's needed and usage of natural or semi-synthetic fibers can lower the Microfibers pollution of the industry.

Controlling soils degradation caused by fashion industry by producing fibers which are friendly to the soil.

Choosing Lyocell/Tencel® instead of rayonofal or viscose can control the Rain-forest destruction.
