Eco Fashion

Sustainable fashion is a movement and process which can lead us towards greater ecological integrity and social justice. Sustainable fashion concerns more than just addressing fashion textiles or products. It comprises addressing the whole system of fashion. This means dealing with interdependent social, cultural, ecological, and financial systems.Sustainable fashion also deals with considering fashion from the perspective of many stakeholders - users and producers, all living species, contemporary and future dwellers on earth. Sustainable fashion, therefore, is the responsibility of citizens, the public sector, and the private sector.

A key example of the need for systems thinking in fashion is that the benefits of product-level initiatives, such as replacing one fiber type for a less environmentally harmful option, is eaten up by increasing volumes of fashion products.
People or Brands following sustainable fashion believe that the fashion industry has the opportunity to act differently, pursuing profit and growth while also creating new value and deeper wealth for society and therefore for the world economy. The goal of sustainable fashion is to create flourishing ecosystems and communities through its activity. This may include: increasing the value of local production and products; prolonging the life-cycle of materials; increasing the value of timeless garments; reducing the amount of waste; and to reducing the harm to the environment created as a result of production and consumption. Another of its aims can sometimes be seen to educate people to practice environmentally friendly consumption by promoting the 'green consumer'.
Sustainability by following fair trade for the workers working in the grassroots of the industry. For the people who make our clothes.

In this session discussion we discussed a lot and in the end we understood that sustainability is not something that anyone technically can fulfill covering all the aspects. But we can work and cover at least any one aspect and this can slowly bring a huge change. Like their are different brands working on Eco fashion like some uses natural fibers, recycling old clothes, etc.
Let's look into such Sustainable Brands:
'No Nasties'
An 100% organic, fair trade, vegan clothing brand and their clothing's are made out of seeds directly. This particular brand has a 100% sustainability marked and they also promises a better deal to the planet, to the farmers and to our future. Every time they sell a product they plant a new tree, in their No Nasties Grove. They try to focus both on Stylish + Sustainable ,this is what makes difference. And by this way brands are trying to work on different aspects of sustainability.

So let's look for another sustainable brand
'Grassroot by Anita Dongre'
Anita Dongre targets to revive and sustain Indian handcrafted traditions. Emphasizing the extremely important role of Design for fashion sustainability, this brand started educating designers from grass root level on sustainable fibers and reducing fabric waste. Being passionate about women empowerment through economic independence¸ this brand tried bringing employment back to villages of India by educating them. The brand helped the women working by building work space near their village so that they didn't need to travel much. They also nurtured craftsmanship, tried to preserve those old traditions. And somewhere to accelerate transition to a more sustainable industry, they also worked on the prices so that it's fair for everyone involved.

We looked into two different brands and their are many different brands like Doodlage, Eka, 11:11, Ka-sha India, etc. All these sustainable brands are trying to contribute something good for a better future ,so we must also look into these sustainability aspects before we buy something. By taking small steps we can only bring change!
